The Single Jig Mitties came about as I was working on the Single Jig Mittens. They use the same cables and have the same longer cuff that fits nicely into the sleeves of a light jacket or even your winter coat if you just want a little something on your hands. The mitties are fingerless mitts but I’ve made them a bit longer on the fingers as I find them more comfortable walking with a cane; they don’t curl under and catch at my cane head the way other pairs seem inclined to doing.
The Mitties are knit in DK weight yarn and from the cuff down. I have included both written and charted instructions.
Sizes: fits up to approximately an 8 ½“/ 21.5cm palm. Due to the rib based pattern there is a lot stretch.
Measurements: 8 ½”/21.5 cm long, cuff to finger opening & 7 ½”/19 cm around, unstretched
Gauge: in K2, P2 ribbing, unstretched: 48 sts & 40 rnds = 4”/10 cm
cable panel (30 sts) is 3”/7.6 cm wide & 1.5”/3.8 cmlong
Materials:
A new pdf will be out this spring with this correction
Update: I’m making it a priority to go back through my patterns and add low vision pdfs to them. I’m using the guidelines set out by the Accessible Patterns group. Changes in the new pdf include: 22pt font instead of 12pt, photo(s) captioned, and the use of bold type and parentheses in place of italics. The low vision file for this pattern is 423KB.
