The Island Continues To Whisper - Love, Life and ceremony in Bali.

Written by Marlo Louise Nugrahita.

The Island Continues to Whisper is the second book in the Bali-based romance series that began with The Island That Whispers.

Hannah believed she understood what it meant to belong in Bali. The rituals. The rhythm. The way life is shaped by family, faith, and ceremony. But belonging is not something that arrives all at once. It deepens quietly, often when you are not looking.

Now married and living fully within Balinese life, Hannah and Gede are no longer navigating first love. They are navigating reality. Expectations. Tradition. The unseen weight of ancestry and responsibility. What it truly means to build a life together when love is shared not just between two people, but with an entire culture.

As their world expands, so do the challenges. Hannah is forced to confront questions she did not expect to face so soon. Gede must balance his devotion to the Gods, his family, and the woman he loves, while carrying the echoes of his past. The island, ever present, continues to guide them both in ways that feel gentle yet unyielding.

Set against the raw beauty of Bali, this story weaves daily life, ceremony, and emotional intimacy into a deeply personal journey of love, identity, and connection. The island does not shout its lessons. It whispers them. And only those who truly listen will understand.

What people are saying about The Island That Continues To Whisper.

Wonderful read

I read the first book back in Australia but read this one in Amed. Loved the first one but this second one I feel like I am so immersed in it because I am here in Amed. I feel all the descriptions because I am here. I love how the traditions and ceremonial processes are explained in such a detailed way. Really helps you understand. If you love Bali you must read all Marlo’s books. I am on the third now and waiting for the fourth. I don’t want them to stop. ❤️As wonderful as the first book!

A fabulous read.

The second book of "Whispers" explains the ramification of a love of two people from different countries. The story is breathtakingly beautiful - with the reality of the merger of two cultures- the problems that arose - and how these two people overcame them.

This book oozes with the love for Bali. It doesn't whisper that love - it shouts it from the pages.

Bali is my second home too.

A little about me

When I married my husband Made 13 years ago, I didn't simply marry into a Balinese family. I became part of a culture and way of life that I wanted to understand and participate in fully. I converted to Balinese Hinduism and completed the ceremonies I would have experienced throughout my life had I been born in Bali, including metatah, the traditional teeth filing ceremony.

I was also given my Balinese name. When I am in Bali, I am Komang, or simply Mang to my family. Being welcomed into this life has given me the opportunity to experience the culture, traditions and ceremonies from within the family, and it is those experiences and the knowledge shared with me that I weave throughout my stories.
