b) When purchasing a digital product


When purchasing a digital product (e.g., The Hartei Field Guide), the following data is collected and processed:


  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe or PayPal)
  • IP address
  • Purchase date and product name


The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR (contract performance) and Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. c GDPR (statutory obligations, particularly tax retention requirements).


Retention period: Transaction data and invoicing records are retained for 10 years in accordance with § 147 AO and § 257 HGB (German tax and commercial law).

Google Analytics (Website Analytics)



This store uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze how visitors interact with the store. The information generated (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored on Google servers, which may be located in the United States.

IP anonymization is enabled. Your IP address will be truncated by Google within EU member states before transmission. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there.

6. Right of Withdrawal for Digital Content

When purchasing digital content (e.g., ebooks, PDF guides), you generally have a 14day right of withdrawal as a consumer. This right expires early if you have explicitly agreed that delivery begins immediately before the withdrawal period ends, and confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal.


At checkout, you will be asked to actively confirm this via a mandatory checkbox before the download is unlocked.
