Happy first week of school!

The first week of school is always a slow one in my home. Routines are just being reestablished after summer break, and now we are getting back into the flow of homeschooling. This year my youngest brother is starting kindergarten! I thought it would be fun to put together a list of picture books you can read aloud to your preschooler and kindergartener to ease you into the start of school. It’s always fun to start with something easy and sweet for the first week of school. Picture books are a great way to bond with your child and help them build their capacity for stories and their ability to comprehend things.

Let’s learn together through stories!

Read the Bible with your Child

Another amazing thing to start this school year is reading the Bible aloud with your children. You can start in the Psalms, which are short and a great place to find Bible verses to memorize, the book of John to learn about Jesus, or you can read a story in the Old Testament.

I also highly recommend reading through the Jesus Storybook Bible. It was my siblings’ and my favorite book growing up. It tells the stories of the Bible in a family-friendly way with beautiful illustrations, and at the end of each story, it always points to the gospel and the good news of Jesus.
