I have taught these exercises and etudes to many of my guitar students, and the vast majority of them have made good progress in a relatively short amount of time. A big reason for that is that it is more about how you practice than how long. With a systematic approach, where you truly focus on the technique in each exercise, you can make faster progress than you might expect.

This can mean, for example, practicing at a slow tempo until the technique feels solid, isolating difficult passages and repeating them carefully, and then gradually increasing the speed.
