Oneg
Beth is our Oneg Team Leader, assisted by Tracie, for the coordination of the Oneg Ministry at AYMS. Please consider participating in the food and fellowship ministry after services if you enjoy using your gifts and talents in hospitality, food preparation, set up and tear down, etc. However, please FIRST speak with our Team Leader in advance regarding the food and drinks.
Kosher Dietary Restrictions
In general, we constrain ourselves to Kosher vegetarian: which means NO meat, pork or shellfish which allows us all to share meals together, whether our backgrounds are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform or non-Jewish. Dairy and fish are allowed, but please allow for lactose-free options for our lactose intolerant congregants and completely dairy-free for those with fatal allergies (from anaphylaxis).
Severe Allergy Restrictions
We have congregants who are fatally allergic to specific ingredients and require that these items be segregated with separate serving ware and clearly labeled to avoid cross-contamination..
- One congregant can have absolutely NO strawberries which are fatal due to severe anaphylaxis. Other allergies for this person include corn (allowable in small quantities but causes moderate illness) and greasy fats (which causes him to become violently sick with immediate vomiting.
- Another congregant has a sulfa / sulfite allergy and severe lactose intolerance, therefore absolutely NO dairy (or onions as a preference). However, aged hard cheeses are acceptable.
- Another congregant is fatally allergic to ALL dairy, leading to severe anaphylaxis. Other health conditions are triggered by almonds, hazelnuts, chocolate, and citrus (but lemon is fine).
Please help keep this list updated and current for the preservation of life of our community members.
