How and Where to Print Cards?

One of the main issue with making custom cards is how and where to print them. If you don't care about quality too much, you could of course place the cards in a Word document, use a regular printer, thicker paper/cardboard and then cut out the cards, but if you want to have cards that resemble the official ones, you'd have to use a print-on-demand offset printing service, preferably one that specializes in playing/trading/proxy cards printing.

The problem with games like the Naruto franchise though is most companies are reluctant to print such items because of licensing/copyright infringements. Some of the companies we used to print with in the past (e.g. MakePlayingCards.com) are now refusing to do it altogether.

One of the few companies we've found who don't make an issue out of it are PrintingProxies.com. Although the service is a bit more on the expensive side, especially if you want your cards printed on holographic paper, the quality of the cards and the delivery is really fast. If you decide to use their service, make sure you toggle the bleed area for each card when you add it to your order, as the templates we make have an extra zone beyond the cut line of the card.

We have found some other companies that may do a good job, but we haven't tried their services yet. There are some custom card sellers on eBay who may agree to print your cards in very high holographic quality, but they usually cost even more.
