About Me

Meet Emma Davey

Trauma-Informed Counsellor | Coercive Control Specialist | Educator | Founder of The CCR Hub | Survivor & Advocate

Emma Davey is a multi-award-winning, trauma-informed counsellor, coercive control specialist, educator and passionate advocate for survivors of domestic abuse.

As the founder of My Trauma Therapy and The Coercive Control Recovery & Education Hub (The CCR Hub), Emma has dedicated her career to helping individuals understand abuse, recover from psychological trauma, rebuild their confidence and reclaim control of their lives.

Emma's work is deeply personal. Having survived coercive control and domestic abuse herself, she understands first-hand the devastating psychological and physiological impact that abusive relationships can have. Rather than letting her experiences define her future, she turned them into a mission to educate, empower, and support others.

Since establishing My Trauma Therapy in 2020, Emma has supported thousands of individuals affected by domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, coercive control and complex trauma.

She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), a Level 4 Brainspotting Practitioner and a trauma-informed somatic coach. She has also completed a Master's degree specialising in the psychology of coercive control, combining academic research, therapeutic expertise and lived experience to bring a unique perspective to her work.

Emma's expertise has led to appearances on BBC News, Channel 5 News, podcasts, and other media platforms, where she raises awareness of coercive control and the realities survivors face.

A significant part of Emma's work involves supporting individuals navigating the police, criminal justice and family court systems. She helps survivors identify patterns of abuse, understand their experiences and communicate the psychological impact of coercive control through structured statements, timelines and evidence documentation.

Recognising the enormous gap between experiencing abuse and being able to explain it, Emma developed the Statement, Evidence & Impact Workbook, a comprehensive 268-page resource designed to help survivors organise their experiences, recognise patterns of abusive behaviour and present their accounts clearly to professionals.

Emma is particularly passionate about improving education, challenging misconceptions and ensuring that women, men and young people affected by abuse are recognised, believed and supported.

Now expanding her work internationally through her new venture in Dubai, Emma is developing educational workshops, professional training programmes and recovery resources to help individuals, organisations and communities better understand coercive control, healthy relationships and trauma.

Emma's mission is simple: to turn lived experience, academic knowledge and professional expertise into meaningful change, helping survivors not just survive, but recover, rebuild and thrive.

“I don't just want people to understand what happened to them. I want them to recognise their worth, reclaim their identity and realise that their past does not have to determine their future.”
