About Me
Hi, I'm Debra.
I'm a physiotherapist based in Jamaica, and for over 20 years I've worked almost entirely in people's homes. I only do community-based care — which means I've spent two decades sitting in living rooms where someone's whole world quietly rearranged itself around caring for a person they love.
I hold a Master's in Dementia Studies (I was a Chevening Scholar for it), I'm a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and I founded Care Caribbean, where I focus on non-pharmacological dementia care and caregiver support across the region. I also run a free Dementia Caregivers Support Group — right now, about 100 caregivers who show up for each other week after week.
Why this shop exists
In twenty years of home visits, I can teach a family how to help someone stand up safely, how to reduce fall risk, how to structure a day around memory loss. That part, I know how to do. But almost every visit, somewhere between the safety assessment and the goodbye, a caregiver says some version of the same thing, almost like it doesn't matter: "I feel like I'm losing myself in this."
There are medication trackers. There are appointment planners. There's almost nothing built for the part of caregiving nobody warns you about — the guilt, the grief, the exhaustion underneath the logistics.
Everything in this shop comes out of that gap. Not clinical advice — the conversations I wish I had time to have with every family I work with, written down so you can have them whenever you need them.
A little more, if you're curious
I'm based in Jamaica, and while my work is rooted here, dementia caregiving looks remarkably similar wherever you are — the same 3am thoughts, the same guilt, the same exhaustion. That's who these resources are for, wherever you're reading this from.
If you want ongoing support rather than a one-time download, my free Dementia Caregivers Support Group is always open. You don't have to buy anything to join.
Thank you for being here. — Debra
