A Varied Week - Just Like The Weather!

This week has been a very varied week!! A bit like the weather!!

I am just checking that it is May!! I think the weather might have forgotten!! I did get some sun over the weekend and during the week thought about putting my heating on again!!

As I write this blog, I am cold and it’s windy!! Jeans are back on I am afraid!! Good for the chub rub though (a bit too much info, haha)

So the week has been a variation of coaching, speaking, funding, qualifications, training, wellbeing and everything in between!!

I have definitely mixed two sides of my business this week, talking about teaching, resources and methods mixed with coaching and talking about stress and energy! A perfect mixture!

This week has also been Mental Health week and whilst I am a fan of promoting, it’s not about 1 week of the year for me, we need to be aware and mindful all the time! I also feel that awareness is one thing but support to manage our mental wellbeing is something that should be discussed and shared more. The “how” not just the “what”. There is also a divide between what mental illness is and just managing your own mental wellness, so it doesn’t lead to an illness. We miss the fact that it’s a full body and mind, holistic approach, not just the mind. It’s all interconnected and we look at them in isolation.

On Wednesday I shared my story about stress, the need to over work and how I am a recovering high functioning stress head!! I say high functioning because I got and did loads, but stress was within my body, my mind and my life throughout. I have burned out a few times and it’s taken years to understand my patterns and beliefs.  I shared how I had to be aware of my stress and that it is a journey because it can still creep in. I also thought that if I changed my environment, the stress would go away, it did for a bit but it came back, it followed me!! It was because it was within me, I had to work inwards first, I had to work on me, it was me that needed to make the changes, not the environment and then I could see clearly again!! I could manage the world around me better, I had time to be! It takes work and time though, there is no magic fix! (we don’t fix, we release!)

I also shared ways to manage this, the first thing is to just PAUSE, be aware of yourself!  How hard is that?? Awareness is the first step, being aware of yourself, your feelings, your body and what you are doing. You won’t be aware of them all, that will take time but to start to be aware of something, to not just plough on is key.

I also spoke about energy drains and radiators, energy givers and energy takers. To understand fully, download my booklet Stress & Energy Awareness https://drive.google.com/file/d/17QNd_Ev7wds9Hue-Ff32TozkOxn17jwF/view?usp=drive_link

I have just seen a great infographic from The World Economic Forum from 2024 on the skills that will be needed by employers for 2030, of course the very top one was AI but all the others in the graphic as the top growth skills are human skills! These are skills that we don’t work on enough or have suppressed!

·      Resilience, agility and flexibility

·      Creative Thinking

·      Curiosity and lifelong learning

·      Motivational and self-awareness

·      Empathy and active listening skills

Wow what a brilliant list and there are more! Have a look on my socials for the full infographic, I have shared it on there

I am soo please to see this, these are the skills that I have seen need developing over my 20 plus years in training and education and now in the coaching and wellbeing area. I am finding was to help people develop these skills and awareness but we need the systems and educational system to support it too. I won’t get on my soap box about that one!

But I will leave you by asking, how are you developing these skills in you? How are you supporting others to develop theirs?

Oh and have you downloaded my booklet?
