About Me
Hi, I’m Adam Oliver, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a paramedic background and experience across urgent, emergency and same-day care settings.
I created Front Door Clinical Education to provide practical, focused learning for clinicians who assess undifferentiated patients in real-world environments such as UTCs, EDs, SDEC, out-of-hours and primary care.
These courses are designed to be concise, clinically relevant and case-based, with a focus on assessment, red flags, decision-making and safe patient care.

Good explanation on how to triage, assessment and decision making of sore throat
I recently completed the Sore Throats in Urgent Care: Assessment, Red Flags and Antibiotic Decisions online CPD course, and it proved to be a highly valuable and practical learning experience. The content was clear, clinically relevant, and directly applicable to real‑world urgent care settings.
The course offered a strong refresher on differentiating viral from bacterial presentations, with a helpful breakdown of evidence‑based scoring systems such as Centor and FeverPAIN. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on recognising red flags that warrant urgent escalation, as well as the structured approach to safe decision‑making around antibiotic prescribing.
The scenarios and case‑based discussions were engaging and realistic, reinforcing key principles without feeling repetitive. The course also struck a good balance between guideline‑driven practice and clinical judgement, which is essential in urgent care environments.
Overall, this CPD module strengthened my confidence in assessing sore throat presentations, improved my antibiotic stewardship awareness, and enhanced my ability to communicate management decisions clearly to patients. I would recommend it to any clinician working in primary or urgent care who wants to refine their assessment skills and ensure safe, evidence‑based practice.

Very informative
I recently completed the Sore Throats in Urgent Care: Assessment, Red Flags and Antibiotic Decisions training and found it exceptionally useful, practical and clearly pitched at real-world clinical decision-making. The session gave a strong structure for assessing sore throat presentations, helping distinguish between self-limiting viral illness, bacterial infection and more serious complications, with a clear focus on safe escalation when red flags are present. I particularly valued the emphasis on focused history, examination and the use of FeverPAIN and Centor as decision-support tools rather than stand-alone answers, as well as the balanced discussion around antibiotic stewardship, delayed prescribing and safety-netting. The AIRWAY mnemonic was especially memorable and will be very helpful in day-to-day practice for giving patients clear, specific advice about when to seek urgent help. Overall, this was an excellent, evidence-based and highly applicable training session that strengthened my confidence in assessing sore throats safely and appropriately in urgent care settings.
