Supporting Our Community

At Homegrown Hugs, I believe that handmade creations can do more than bring smiles—they can also make a positive difference in the community.

Since starting my crochet journey, I've been proud to support local charities, fundraising events and community organisations through handmade donations, raffle prizes and fundraising projects. Whether it's creating Forget-Me-Not flowers for the Alzheimer's Society, donating prizes to the RSPCA, or attending local events, every opportunity to give back means a great deal to me.

This page celebrates some of the wonderful people, charities and organisations I've been fortunate enough to support along the way. I hope it's just the beginning of many more opportunities to spread kindness, one stitch at a time.

Homegrown Hugs in the Community

Supporting the Alzheimer's Society

Supporting the Alzheimer's Society has been a truly meaningful part of the Homegrown Hugs journey.

I was honoured to crochet handmade Forget-Me-Not flowers to help raise funds and awareness for the charity. As the Forget-Me-Not flower is a symbol of remembrance and hope for those affected by dementia, it made this project especially special.

I was also proud to support Sonia's fundraising for the Trek26 Peak District Challenge by donating one of my handmade creations to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society. Seeing my crochet contribute to such an inspiring fundraising effort was a wonderful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a real difference.

At Homegrown Hugs, I believe that every stitch has the power to bring comfort, spread kindness and support causes that matter. I look forward to continuing to support charities like the Alzheimer's Society whenever I can.

Supporting RSPCA Doncaster Rescue & Refresh

One of the charities closest to the Homegrown Hugs community journey has been RSPCA Doncaster Rescue & Refresh.

It has been a privilege to support the incredible work they do caring for and rehoming animals in need.

Over the past year, I've been delighted to donate handmade crochet creations to help with their fundraising, including colourful dog bow ties and two handmade raffle prizes for their Sunnyside Gala.

I was also proud to attend their Annual Dog Show, where I met so many wonderful people who supported both the RSPCA and Homegrown Hugs.

Seeing my handmade creations help raise funds for such an important local charity has been incredibly rewarding.

Supporting organisations that make a positive difference in our community is something I truly value, and I'm grateful to have been able to play a small part in helping their fundraising efforts.

I look forward to continuing to support RSPCA Doncaster Rescue & Refresh and other local charities as Homegrown Hugs continues to grow.
