About Me

Jay Leonard Schwartz is a writer, musician, and composer, digital-collage artist, and art-film/video producer. Over the years, he has published a large series of prose, essays, and poetry on his blog, Loitering Words, along with his other artistic creations. An element, reflected in some of his work, is his interest in the Dada art movement of the early 20th century which inspired him to compile and publish Loitering Words: The Lyrical Poetry & Wooly Musings of Jay Leonard Schwartz, A Self-Confessed Dadaist At Large.

His latest release is Climate Riot, available here on PayHip. It is an absurd collection of short stories of climate crisis and social chaos. Set in Florida, the stories infuse satire and dark humor into postmodern, cautionary tales of horror, science-fiction, fantasy, and social dysfunction.

He also published a novel, O Little Central Florida Town of Bedlam, which began his foray into absurd fiction and historical satire, with a cautionary tale of climate upheaval and small-town social dysfunction. It is an absurd, satirical saga merging elements of the eccentric small-town life, supernatural, political intrigue, & science fiction.

His major artistic projects are usually produced by Dada Bloq, an publishing and production organization which he created. Through it, he has produced a full-feature film, Dada Venduza, as well short films, such as Dada Ausfahrt, and a series of avant-garde music videos for his music projects, The S&J Experience and The Transmystic Blues Sniffers—the latter for which he also wrote the band's songs on its debut album, Seeds & Stems. He also created the comical Jugmongers videos (YouTube) and the music album Jugmongers: Live at The Hootenanny, which he wrote and performed on. His character, Judd Jugmonger, a Florida cracker, figures highly in some of his music and literary work.

Jay is also a humanistic teacher & teacher-trainer, materials developer and consultant in the field of English as a Foreign Language. He has written and contributed material to many educational publications, including his own former periodical, ELTvista.

He was born in Miami, Florida, USA, but has also lived in Greece for over 25 years. He is an avid champion of poetic license and of unsanctioned, disruptive creativity and commentary.
