What kind of mindset do you have right now in this stage of your life?
Is it a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?
Do you know or understand exactly what a growth or fixed mindset is?
A fixed mindset tends to back down and avoid challenges or even get defensive, taking things personally, and ignoring useful criticism and feedback altogether. When you have a growth mindset, you are more likely to embrace challenges and preserve. They also see mistakes as learning opportunities and ways to improve. Appreciating feedback and using it, learning from the criticism they have received.
I need to extend myself more grace when it comes to learning new things and relearning things. Because I feel like I should be able to already do what is needed to be done or already know the knowledge the first time. Even after at least the first three tries of trying to learn something new either doing it physically or mentally. Yet, I know those failures are letting me know where I need to improve more and what areas I can do better.
I need to enlist others to maintain a Growth Mindset to remember that it takes time to learn and it becomes a little easier to include others. Including others helps me reflect on what I have been learning in each area to see what needs to be improved. And in the area to learn to give and receive constructive criticism. In the last 5 weeks, I have seen more growth in my life by appreciating feedback and using it, learning from the criticism. I wanted to give up when seeing my grades low, also I got sick and started not focusing on school work which put me behind in class making me more unmotivated to even try.
I celebrate growth and accomplishment in my life by giving myself an extra break from always working on projects. I might take myself out to eat, or even do something special I normally don't get to do like a new activity or events I have never been to. In my educational journey, I celebrate by giving myself kudos or maybe even turning something I learned into art. Make or buy myself something I don't normally get often.
So, developing a growth mindset in life and continuing to have a growth mindset in life is important. Because once you're in a fixed mindset you feel stuck and have nowhere to move with no growth attached. By having a growth mindset you can open yourself up to an abundance of life opportunities. Becoming happier with the life you are living. Having a purpose on this earth which gives us the drive to continue to do and be better.
