Basic Care Instructions

*Everything I make is microwave safe unless otherwise stated.

--------------------------

*It is much better to hand-wash only instead of using the dishwasher. This can easily knock handles off if the washer is too strong, or wear down glazes over time. Never put a crackle glaze, matte, or crystal glaze in the washer. While a standard non-crackle non-crystal glossy glaze should be fine in the washer, it is still much better to handwash everything just to be safe. The last thing I want is your mug to break when it could have been prevented.

****Thermal Shock****

Thermal shock occurs when the pottery is met with an extreme temperature difference, often from cold to hot or hot to cold, or a temperature that differs to around 300F difference or higher. With everyday common use, this is really not an issue.

**Usually fine-> Putting hot coffee in a room-temperature mug is fine, as well as placing a mug under an espresso machine. Placing ice in a room-temperature mug followed by a beverage is fine. Pouring hot tea is often fine as well in a room-temperature mug. Placing hot food, not piping / sizzling / super hot right out of the oven food onto a plate or bowl is fine but better to wait for it to get to a consumable temperature.

***Usually not fine/avoid doing-> Freezing mugs and then putting warm liquids in it could crack the mug. Placing a vessel into a hot, preheated oven could also cause cracking. When something is *super sizzling*, often with hot oil or cheese (or anything that retains extreme heat and spreads out) and then placed on a plate, it could cause the plate to crack in half

It is better to wait until a food item is near consumable temperature before placing food onto a plate or into a bowl, especially if the food is heavily oiled.

*At your own risk, Pottery is oven safe IF the oven is not preheated, I have used pottery in the oven many times up to 425F and never had an issue, as long as I placed the pottery in the oven while the oven was off and cool.
