Tia Jax

Tia has been studying movement and dance for over three decades. She has been professionally trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical and acro.

Tia began pole dancing in 2013. She fell in love with the way that it allows for full freedom of expression and sensuality in movement. She also found much appreciation for the athleticism and the artistry of it. It wasn’t long after, that Tia was teaching and becoming recognized for her

ethereal and sensual flow in pole, chair and floor dance. Her movement has always been inspired by “Skrippers”, her experience as a skripper and her technical dance background. Tia sees her self as a student, always! She is constantly training, creating and learning. She values growth in her form and artistry. The physiology of pole and

dance are also something she has immense interest in, which reflects in her teaching style.

Tia believes that to be a great teacher, you have to always be in a state of learning.

You can train with Tia online at www.tiajax.com and stay up to date with her online and in person classes on instagram @tia_jax.

“I am constantly being inspired and I am perpetually becoming a better teacher and mover because of those that I teach. I am always inspired by the growth of dancers but I am most inspired by their mistakes, or what they think are their mistakes. Never mistakes, only potential for creation!”

Elspeth

Elspeth (they/she) is a Toronto-based performance artist and instructor specializing in scintillating pole and aerial creations. Driven by a deep desire to artistically fling herself around in the air as much as possible, Elspeth has travelled across Canada honing their craft, teaching their signature style, and dazzling audiences.

While amassing over 7 years of pole and aerial training (and forever counting), Elspeth has developed a very distinct style — a juxtaposition of melting movement with striking shapework, tied together with an overarching disposition for drama. In the pole world, Elspeth is a force to be reckoned with, having won several titles, most notably winning Pole Theatre Canada in 2022 with their story about the evolution of their gender identity. Currently, Elspeth is working on several pole-based creative projects, while also adapting their skills to aerial and orbiting pole.

Beyond pole, Elspeth is a circus chameleon, shapeshifting to meet the confines of new apparatuses and spaces. Elspeth is a passionate practitioner of contortion, handbalancing and has fallen in love with the intersection between these two disciplines. Additionally, they are experienced in ambient durational performance in contortion, balance, apnea, sway pole, and (as a new fascination) hair hanging. Existing somewhere on the spectrum between dazzling show (-girl? -human? -thing?) and haunted cryptid — if there's anyone who can bring an outré flavour to pole and circus, it's Elspeth.
