Who we are
Purpose Workbench is the trading name used by Andrew Watkins, operating as a sole trader.
This privacy policy explains how Purpose Workbench collects and uses personal information when you visit our online store, purchase a product or contact us.
Email: support@purposeworkbench.co.uk
Information we may collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may receive information including:
- your name
- email address
- billing or transaction information
- details of products you purchase
- order and transaction identifiers
- correspondence and support enquiries
- technical information associated with use of our online store where made available by our service providers
We do not normally receive or store your full payment-card details. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers.
Why we use your information
We use personal information where necessary to:
- process and fulfil purchases
- provide access to digital products
- send order-related communications
- respond to support enquiries
- maintain appropriate business, accounting and transaction records
- prevent or investigate fraud, misuse and security incidents
- protect and administer Purpose Workbench and our products
- comply with legal and regulatory requirements
Our lawful bases
Where we need personal information to process an order, supply a digital product or provide requested support connected with a purchase, we generally process that information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
We may process information where required to comply with legal obligations, including accounting, tax and consumer-protection requirements.
We may also rely on our legitimate interests where necessary to operate, secure and improve the business, prevent fraud and deal with misuse, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Payment and ecommerce providers
Our online store is hosted using Payhip and payments may be processed using Stripe or other payment providers made available through the store.
These providers process information in accordance with their own privacy practices and may also act as independent controllers for certain information they collect directly from you.
Other service providers
We use third-party services to operate the business, which may include email, cloud storage, productivity, website and technical-service providers.
We only share personal information where it is reasonably necessary to provide our services, operate the business, comply with the law or protect our legitimate interests.
We do not sell customer personal information.
International processing
Some of our service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards required by applicable data-protection law are used where necessary.
How long we keep information
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, accounting and tax requirements.
Order and financial records may therefore be retained for longer than general correspondence.
Support correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period after an enquiry is resolved where this is necessary to maintain appropriate records or deal with follow-up issues.
Marketing
We do not currently automatically add customers to a Purpose Workbench marketing mailing list simply because they make a purchase.
If we introduce optional email marketing, customers will be given appropriate choices and may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights including the right to:
- request access to personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct inaccurate information
- ask us to delete information in certain circumstances
- ask us to restrict how information is used
- receive certain information in a portable format
- object to certain uses of your information
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions and exemptions.
