Author Visits

Bringing stories, curiosity, and meaningful connection into classrooms and communities.

There's something truly special about sharing a story together.

Whether it's a school, early learning centre, library, homeschool group, or community organisation, every ROUSA author visit is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, encourage participation, and create meaningful moments that children will remember long after the final page.

As the author of Ladybug Lane and founder of ROUSA Learning Studio, I love creating calm, welcoming experiences where every child is invited to imagine, ask questions, join in, and feel like they belong.

Because I believe the most important kind of connection is human connection.

-Rouanne Abdelsamie

ROUSA Promise

At ROUSA Learning Studio, helping others will always come first.

My greatest hope is to create meaningful experiences that children remember long after the visit has ended. Every school, classroom, and community is different, and I genuinely believe that kindness, flexibility, and human connection should always come first.

If cost is a concern, your timetable is a little different, or you're hoping for something outside the listed experiences, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll always do my best to work with you and create something that suits your learners, your community, and your circumstances.

My goal has never been to simply sell books or author visits. My goal is to help children discover the joy of stories, celebrate creativity, and feel that they truly belong.

Because at ROUSA, there will always be a place for you here.

Author Visit Experiences

Little Learners

Early Years - Year 2

$100 AUD

A gentle, interactive storytelling experience designed to inspire kindness, curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Together, we'll step into the world of Ladybug Lane, where children become part of the story as they help the friendly ladybugs return their missing spots.

During our visit, children will:

  1. Enjoy an interactive reading of Ladybug Lane, helping each ladybug find and replace their missing spots as the story unfolds.
  2. Take part in a fun, visual counting experience by drawing the correct number of spots on each ladybug, encouraging number recognition, observation, and participation throughout the story.
  3. Explore kindness and helping others through gentle discussion, discovering how even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference - just like helping the ladybugs.
  4. Create their very own ladybug by choosing how many spots it will have before drawing or writing one kind way they can help someone else. Each child's page is then combined to create a special class book - a lasting reminder that every small act of kindness helps make our community stronger.
  5. Become part of the story by receiving a little ladybug spot to place on their shoe, celebrating that every child has helped bring Ladybug Lane back to life.
  6. Ask questions about becoming an author, creating books, and where stories come from.

Children will leave with...

  • A memorable, hands-on storytelling experience.
  • A gentle reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
  • Their own ladybug spot to take home.
  • Happy memories of becoming part of the story!

Duration: Approximately 45–60 minutes

Growing Readers

Years 3 - 6

$100 AUD

An inspiring author visit encouraging creativity, perseverance, kindness, and the confidence to turn ideas into something meaningful.

Together, we'll step behind the pages of Ladybug Lane, discovering how stories are created, how dreams become reality, and how every person has the power to make someone feel like they belong.

During our visit, students will:

  1. Experience an interactive reading of Ladybug Lane, exploring the story together through discussion, prediction, and participation.
  2. Discover the journey from idea to published book, learning how stories are written, edited, illustrated, and shared with readers.
  3. Explore the creative process, including how I overcame challenges, embraced my strengths, researched new ways to illustrate my ideas, and continued working towards my dream of becoming a published children's author.
  4. Discuss kindness, inclusion, and neurodiversity, exploring how every learner experiences the world differently and how we can all help create spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued.
  5. Learn about audience and purpose, discovering who Ladybug Lane was written for, why those choices matter, and how authors make decisions for their readers.
  6. Create a collaborative class book, where every student contributes a page sharing one way they can help create a more inclusive, welcoming, or kind community. Their pages are then combined into a unique class keepsake celebrating the many ways we can support one another.
  7. Ask questions about writing, publishing, creativity, and becoming an author.

Students will leave with...

  • A deeper understanding of the writing and publishing process.
  • Practical ways to show kindness, celebrate differences, and support others.
  • Inspiration to pursue their own creative ideas with confidence and perseverance.
  • A collaborative class book celebrating inclusion and the unique contributions of every student.

Duration: Approximately 45–60 minutes

Beyond the Pages

Years 7-12

$100 AUD

An honest and inspiring conversation about creativity, purpose, resilience, and having the courage to build something that matters.

This session encourages students to think differently about success, reminding them that the most meaningful ideas often begin with curiosity, kindness, and a desire to make a difference.

Together, we'll explore my journey from student to university, teacher, published children's author, and founder of ROUSA Learning Studio, discovering that you don't have to have everything figured out before taking the first step.

During our visit, students will:

  1. Enjoy a reading of Ladybug Lane before exploring the deeper purpose behind the story and why children's books can have such a lasting impact.
  2. Hear my personal journey, from school and university to becoming a teacher, children's author, and small business owner, including the challenges, setbacks, and lessons I encountered along the way.
  3. Discover how ROUSA began, learning how a simple idea grew into a published book, a learning studio, and a community built around connection and inclusion.
  4. Explore creative problem-solving, including how I adapted when I realised I wasn't a professional illustrator and found another way to bring my stories to life instead of giving up on my dream.
  5. Reflect on purpose over profit, discussing why creating something you genuinely love - and something that helps others - is often far more fulfilling than chasing money alone.
  6. Complete a creative workshop, where students identify a problem, challenge, or need they care about before brainstorming their own meaningful idea, project, community initiative, creative hobby, or future business that could make a positive difference.
  7. Take part in open discussion about kindness, inclusion, neurodiversity, resilience, creativity, and the many different pathways life can take after school.
  8. Ask questions about university, writing, self-publishing, creativity, and building something with purpose.

Students will leave with...

  • A reminder that meaningful ideas often begin with one small step.
  • The confidence to pursue something they genuinely care about.
  • A deeper understanding that creativity, kindness, and perseverance can create real change.
  • Practical inspiration to turn an interest or hobby into something that brings purpose, connection, or helps others.

Duration: Approximately 45–60 minutes
