About Sam’s Yarn Basket

Sam’s Yarn Basket provides knitting and crochet patterns, tutorials and other yarn and craft-related content. Handmade physical products and other craft-related items may also be offered for sale from time to time.

Products may include both paid and free digital downloads.

Digital Patterns and Downloads

Digital patterns and other downloadable products are supplied electronically. No physical product will be shipped when a product is described as a digital pattern, PDF, digital download or other downloadable product.

Please read the product description carefully before purchasing to ensure that you understand what you are purchasing and any materials, equipment or skills required to complete the project.

Every reasonable effort is made to ensure that Sam’s Yarn Basket patterns are clear and accurate. If you believe you have found an error in a pattern or experience a problem with a file, please contact Sam’s Yarn Basket through the Contact link on this website.

Digital Product Refund Policy

Digital patterns, PDFs and other downloadable products are non-refundable for change of mind once they have been supplied or made available for download.

Because a digital product cannot be physically returned once it has been supplied, Sam’s Yarn Basket does not offer refunds, exchanges or cancellations simply because a customer:

• changes their mind

• decides they no longer want or need the pattern

• accidentally purchases the product

• purchases the wrong pattern

• finds a similar product elsewhere

• decides not to make the project

• does not have the required materials, equipment or skill level

Customers are responsible for reading the product description and checking that they are purchasing the correct product before completing their order.

If there is a genuine problem with a digital product — for example, you receive the incorrect file, the supplied file cannot be accessed, or the product is materially different from its description — please contact Sam’s Yarn Basket so that the problem can be investigated and an appropriate remedy provided where required.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection laws.

Pattern Use and Copyright

Unless otherwise specifically stated, patterns, charts, photographs, written instructions and other original digital materials produced by Sam’s Yarn Basket remain protected by copyright.

Purchasing or downloading a pattern gives you permission to use the pattern; it does not transfer ownership of the pattern or its copyright to you.

You may:

• download and print the pattern for your own use

• make items from the pattern for yourself

• make items as gifts

• make items for charity

• sell finished handmade items that you personally make using the pattern

You may not:

• copy or reproduce the pattern for distribution

• sell or redistribute the pattern or any part of it

• share copies of the PDF or digital file with other people

• upload the pattern to websites, social media, groups, file-sharing services or other online locations

• give copies of a paid pattern to another person

• publish substantial portions of the written instructions, charts or other pattern content

• claim a Sam’s Yarn Basket pattern or design as your own

• use the pattern or its contents to create another pattern for sale or distribution

If you wish to recommend one of my patterns to another crafter, please direct them to Sam’s Yarn Basket so they can obtain their own copy.

When selling finished handmade items made from a Sam’s Yarn Basket pattern, crediting Sam’s Yarn Basket as the pattern designer is appreciated.

Free Patterns

Patterns offered free of charge remain subject to copyright and these usage conditions.

A pattern being offered for free means that there is no purchase price. It does not mean that the pattern is free from copyright or may be copied, redistributed, uploaded or sold by another person.

Please direct other crafters to Sam’s Yarn Basket to obtain their own copy.

Handmade and Physical Products

From time to time, Sam’s Yarn Basket may offer handmade or other physical products for sale.

Because handmade products are individually created, slight variations may occur between individual items. Colours may also appear differently depending upon photography, lighting, computer monitors and other devices.

Every reasonable effort will be made to describe products accurately.

Change-of-Mind Returns for Physical Products

Sam’s Yarn Basket does not provide refunds or exchanges simply because a customer changes their mind about a physical product.

However, Sam’s Yarn Basket may choose to accept a change-of-mind return in an individual case at its discretion.

If a change-of-mind return is agreed to, the purchaser is responsible for the cost of returning the item to Sam’s Yarn Basket. Sam’s Yarn Basket will not pay or reimburse return postage for a change-of-mind return.

Any return must be agreed to before the item is sent back.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the item is appropriately packaged and returned in the condition agreed upon.

Original postage or delivery charges are not refundable for an accepted change-of-mind return.

These change-of-mind conditions do not limit any rights a customer may have when a product fails to meet a consumer guarantee under Australian Consumer Law.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Physical Products

If you believe you have received a physical product that is faulty, damaged, incorrect or materially different from its description, please contact Sam’s Yarn Basket before returning the item.

Sam’s Yarn Basket may request reasonable information or photographs to help assess the problem before arranging a remedy.

Where a product fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee, the appropriate repair, replacement, refund or other remedy will be provided as required by Australian Consumer Law.

Where applicable, reasonable return costs for a product confirmed to have a problem will be handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing contained in these Terms & Conditions, the Refund Policy or elsewhere on the Sam’s Yarn Basket website is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

The change-of-mind policies described above are separate from a customer's statutory rights where a product fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee.

Prices

Prices are displayed in the currency shown on the Sam’s Yarn Basket website. The store currently operates using Australian dollars (AUD).

Prices may be changed from time to time.

Any applicable taxes or other charges will be calculated or displayed during the purchasing process where required.

Payments

Payments are processed through Payhip and the payment providers made available at checkout.

Sam’s Yarn Basket does not directly receive or store complete credit or debit card details supplied to payment processors.

An order is not considered complete until the checkout process has been successfully completed.

Orders

Sam’s Yarn Basket reserves the right to cancel or refund an order where reasonably necessary, including where:

• there has been an obvious pricing or listing error

• a product is unexpectedly unavailable

• there is suspected fraudulent or unauthorised activity

• an order cannot reasonably be fulfilled

If Sam’s Yarn Basket cancels an order after payment has been received, the appropriate payment will be refunded.

Pattern Results and Gauge

Knitting and crochet results can vary depending upon yarn, hook or needle size, gauge, tension, substitutions and individual crafting technique.

Where a pattern specifies gauge, measurements, yarn requirements or sizing, customers are responsible for checking these details and making any necessary adjustments for their own project.

The amount of yarn required may vary depending upon individual tension, substitutions and other factors.

Tutorials and Educational Content

Patterns, tutorials, videos and other craft-related information provided by Sam’s Yarn Basket are intended to assist and encourage crafters.

Please use appropriate care when using knitting needles, crochet hooks, scissors, sewing needles and other craft tools or materials.
