I’m Wendy, the person behind Serene Mind Solutions.
My background is in learning and people development, and I’ve spent more than 27 years teaching, training, coaching and working with people. I’ve always been interested in what makes us tick, why we think the way we do, why some things affect us more than others and why we sometimes keep doing things even when we know they’re not helping us.
My interest in how our minds work goes back a long way. I’d wanted to learn NLP for more than 10 years, but for one reason or another, I never actually did anything about it.
Eventually, I did.
I started my training with Change Working and finally got to learn about something I’d been curious about for years. I loved it. It made me look at thoughts, beliefs and the patterns we develop in a completely different way, and I wanted to know more.
NLP led me to IEMT, then Metaphors of Movement, EFT and other approaches followed. Anyone who knows me will know that once I get interested in something, I tend to go all in!
Somewhere in amongst all of that learning, Serene Mind Solutions began to take shape. What had started as something I was interested in personally became something I knew I wanted to do professionally too.
How I work
I’ve never wanted to have one way of working that I use with everyone.
We’re all different. What works brilliantly for one person might not be what someone else needs at all. Having different approaches to draw on means I can adapt our sessions to you, rather than trying to fit you into a particular way of working.
My training now includes NLP, IEMT, EFT, Metaphors of Movement, OldPain2Go® and Reiki, alongside my background in coaching, adult learning and people development.
I’m still learning too. I genuinely love it. There’s usually another book on my list, something I’m reading about or, quite possibly, another course I’ve signed up for!
Away from the studio...
Family is a huge part of my life, and when I’m not working you’ll usually find me spending time with them, drinking coffee or getting outside for a walk.
I love being out in nature and I’m fascinated by old traditions, the changing seasons and some of the ways people lived and understood the world before everything became quite so busy. I’m definitely someone who notices the first signs of autumn, a full moon or the change in the air when a new season is on its way.
I also have a habit of signing myself up for things that make me wonder what I was thinking! So far, that’s included three Mighty Hikes, a half marathon and two full marathons. I love having something to work towards and seeing just how much I’m capable of when I decide I’m going to do something.
I turned 50 this year and I’m enjoying this stage of my life. There’s something about getting older that has made me more curious, not less, about what I enjoy, what matters to me and what I want more of in my life.
Maybe that’s also part of why I enjoy working with women in midlife. There can be a lot going on at this stage of life, but there can also be that feeling of right, what do I want now?
