The Animal Rescue Organization exists because every animal deserves to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

Our mission is to help animals in need through rescue, care, veterinary support, fostering, adoption and community outreach.

We believe that one act of kindness can create a ripple that reaches far beyond a single moment.

What We Do

Our work focuses on helping animals who need support, including animals facing homelessness, illness, injury, abandonment or other difficult circumstances.

Depending on their individual needs, animals may receive:

Our Philosophy

We believe rescue is about more than simply removing an animal from a difficult situation.

And ultimately, it's about helping them find a place where they can belong.

Our Community

Animal rescue is a team effort.

It takes rescuers, foster families, veterinarians, volunteers, adopters, donors, sponsors and compassionate supporters.

About Me

Veterinarian & Animal Welfare Advocate

My journey has always been guided by service, compassion and a deep respect for life. As a veterinarian, I have dedicated myself to helping animals in need, providing compassionate veterinary care and advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves. My work has allowed me to witness the remarkable resilience of animals and the difference that patience, medical care and kindness can make in their lives. Through The Animal Rescue Organization, I continue that commitment by helping vulnerable animals receive the care, protection and second chances they deserve.

A Background Built on Service

Before dedicating my life to veterinary medicine and animal rescue, I served in the United States Navy as a Navy Diver. My time in the Navy taught me discipline, responsibility, teamwork, courage and the importance of remaining calm when faced with challenging circumstances. Those experiences continue to influence the way I approach veterinary medicine and rescue work today. Whether responding to an emergency, caring for a critically ill animal or helping an animal find a loving home, I believe in showing up, doing the work and never giving up when there is still hope.

My Commitment

For me, animal rescue is more than a profession—it is a calling. Every animal deserves compassion, dignity, safety and the opportunity for a better life.

Dr. Alain Pierre Vermeulen

Dr. Vermeulen is a dedicated veterinarian who immigrated from the Netherlands and has been an integral part of The Animal Rescue Organization for the past eight years. Trusted for his integrity, loyalty and unwavering work ethic, Alain plays an important role in managing the organization's donations and helping ensure that vital resources continue to support animals in need.

His genuine love for animals is reflected in everything he does, and his commitment to their welfare has made him a valued member of our organization. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Alain is an exceptional business partner whose dedication, vision and hard work have helped build The Animal Rescue Organization into the organization it is today. His leadership, compassion and steadfast commitment continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
