• Chidori Tsunagi (Linked Plovers), Beginner. Two crossing families of wavy running-stitch lines link at every crossing into one continuous field. Chidori, the plover, is long paired with waves in Japanese textile design, flying steady through rough seas as a symbol of perseverance, its cry heard as "chiyo," a pun on a thousand generations.
