TME Performance Basketball Years 10–11 | Ages 14–16 | KS4
TME Performance Basketball is a structured seven-lesson Scheme of Learning for Years 10–11 Core PE. It develops secure individual technique, intelligent team play, tactical adaptability and the confidence to lead, officiate and evaluate performance.
Pupils begin with footwork, passing and maintaining possession before applying dribbling, set shooting and decision-making under pressure. The programme progresses through lay-ups and fast-break principles, player-to-player, zone and press defence, positional responsibilities, rebounding and transition. The final lessons introduce tournament organisation, officiating, tactical leadership, game management and the production of an individual performance profile.
The 16-page resource includes two comprehensive curriculum and assessment pages, seven detailed one-page lesson plans and seven matching visual infographics. The opening pages cover curriculum context, learning transfer, prior learning, safety, Know and Show expectations, vocabulary, inclusive delivery, AfL and Head–Heart–Hands assessment.
Each lesson contains:
- Head, Heart and Hands learning objectives
- Timed Warm-up, Explore, Develop, Apply and Plenary activities
- Detailed court dimensions, team sizes, rotations and equipment organisation
- Technical and tactical teaching cues
- Conditioned games that promote decision-making rather than passive drills
- STEP differentiation for accessible support and increased pressure
- AfL evidence linked to possession, shot selection, defence and teamwork
- SEND and EAL adaptations and purposeful coaching or officiating roles
- Explicit safety expectations
- Plan–Monitor–Reflect metacognition and age-appropriate oracy prompts
This is a practical, teacher-friendly resource for developing confident basketball players who can understand, adapt and lead the game.
