TME Performance Badminton Years 10–11 | Ages 14–16 | KS4
TME Performance Badminton provides a complete seven-lesson Scheme of Learning for Years 10–11 Core PE. It develops technically secure, tactically intelligent and increasingly independent badminton players through demanding practice, conditioned games, competition, coaching and officiating.
The sequence begins with serving, clearing and recovery before progressing to drop shots, net play and smashing. Pupils then explore singles construction, opponent movement and tactical adaptation, followed by backhand options, underarm clears and net kills. Later lessons develop doubles rotation, communication and partnership play before pupils participate in tournaments, officiate matches, profile opponents and undertake independent coaching and performance review.
The 16-page resource contains two curriculum and assessment pages, seven detailed one-page lesson plans and seven corresponding lesson infographics. The opening pages establish the learning journey, curriculum context, safety expectations, Know and Show outcomes, key vocabulary, inclusive delivery and Head–Heart–Hands assessment standards.
Every lesson provides:
- Practical Head, Heart and Hands outcomes
- Timed Warm-up, Explore, Develop, Apply and Plenary phases
- Court organisation, grouping, feeding patterns and equipment guidance
- Clear teaching points for racket preparation, contact, movement and recovery
- Conditioned practices that connect technique with tactical decisions
- STEP differentiation for support and greater challenge
- AfL tasks linked directly to observable performance evidence
- SEND and EAL guidance, safety controls and meaningful alternative roles
- Detailed Plan–Monitor–Reflect questions and oracy sentence stems
The scheme helps teachers move pupils beyond isolated technique towards thoughtful, adaptable and enjoyable competitive performance.
