The inspiration for The Little Grey Girl Mystery Gem for March 2020 was wool and a rural landscape feeling. I imagined walking across fields and watching newborn lambs explore the world around them, looking over to the next field where crops were sown.
Looking at the landscape from above, from a plane or Google Earth, it’s a patchwork of different textures and colours. By using a geometric lace pattern, and using different stitches in the fields, a woolly landscape emerged.
Landskap is a top-down triangular shawl, the pattern is both fully written and charted. Eden Cottage Yarns Titus 4-ply gives a fantastic drape to the finished shawl. The shawl should be knitted in a yarn that gives a good drape and handles blocking well.
Yarn: 370-400m/400-440yds Eden Cottage Yarns Titus 75% merino, 25% silk, 400m(437yds)/100g
Needles: 3.5mm (US4)
Gauge: 24sts/10cm in stocking stitch unblocked, 20sts/10cm blocked
Finished measurements: wingspan ~150cm/59”, depth 64cm/25”
Techniques used: garter tab cast on
