Wildflowers bloom in the most unexpected of places - overgrown fields, the side of the road, the cracks in the pavement. There’s hopefulness in their resilience and determination to thrive in adverse conditions.

When the world seems bleak, wildflowers are a reminder that beauty can sprout anywhere - no matter how bad things are right now, one day there’ll be change and we’ll eventually create a world that’s so much better.

The Wildflower Shawl is a half hexagon worked from the top down. It starts with a series of simple rows in alternating colors. After the first two colors are used up, the remaining one is used to create a detailed edging. The pattern is easily adjustable and ideal for an intermediate crocheter. It features a unique color changing technique that means the yarn isn't cut mid pattern and there's no extra ends to weave in.

Yarn, Yardage, and Colors

The pattern calls for 231yds/211m/100g in each of 3 coordinating colors, but can easily be adjusted - alternate more colors in the body and pick a contrast that works with all of them. Use scrap yarn and change colors as you run out of yarn. Use one color for all dc rows and a second as the contrast, or work the entire shawl in one color.

Colors A and B work well in any color style, color C works best in a color without too much variegation.

The pattern calls for DK weight but works just as well in anything from a fingering to an aran.
