Nothing sets my heart on fire quite like a gorgeous crocheted shawl! The Heart of Fire Shawl is one of my favorite shawl styles, featuring a cozily textured body with bold contrast stripes and an exquisite lace border. It’s endlessly fun to work up - the color changes keep it interesting without requiring focus or counting, and the colors are carried up the side so there’s no extra ends to weave in - and the heart shape makes it easy to wear and style.
The pattern is mostly mindless, but it is best suited for adventurous intermediate or advanced crocheters due to the techniques used.

Thanks to mcmullin fiber co for providing the yarn for the pattern sample!
The sample is shown in worsted weight, but the pattern works well in anything from a fingering to a bulky. It’s a highly textured pattern and does best in a single ply, 4 ply, or other base that shows off texture.
Color A can be any color style, from variegated to solid to gradient. The pattern is ideal for breaking up highly variegated yarns or for toning down super busy colorways. Colors B & C should contrast well with color A so the texture is clearly visible. Color B works best as a solid that’ll show off the edging, and color C can be any color style.
The shawl requires at least two colors to be worked up, but can be worked in just two colors instead of three. If worked in only two colors, you’ll need slightly more of the contrast color as compared to the main color.
A note is included for creating a shawl that is a wider and shallower triangle.
ch, dc, sc, hdc, Chainless starting double crochet (optional), Counting rows and stitches, Working flat, Changing colors, Skipping stitches, hdc in the third loop
