TME Performance Volleyball Years 10–11 | Ages 14–16 | KS4
TME Performance Volleyball is a seven-lesson Scheme of Learning for Years 10–11 Core PE. It develops controlled first contacts, purposeful team organisation and the tactical understanding required to sustain rallies and build effective attacks.
The programme begins with overhead volleying and self-correction before introducing serving, rules and one-a-side play. Pupils then develop the dig, an adapted extra touch and purposeful placement. Two-a-side reception and court coverage lead into the setter role and a controlled three-touch attack. The final lessons develop team tactics, defence, assessment, rotation, officiating and performance review through Volley4s or appropriately adapted six-a-side play.
The 16-page resource includes two curriculum and assessment pages, seven detailed one-page lesson plans and seven corresponding lesson infographics. The opening pages establish curriculum context, progression, Know and Show outcomes, vocabulary, inclusion and Head–Heart–Hands assessment.
Every lesson contains:
- Head, Heart and Hands objectives
- Timed Warm-up, Explore, Develop, Apply and Plenary activities
- Court dimensions, net arrangements, group sizes and rotation guidance
- Technical cues for volleying, digging, serving, setting and attacking
- Progressive conditioned games that encourage a three-contact team structure
- STEP differentiation using net height, distance, additional touches and player support
- AfL linked to serve success, pass quality, communication and tactical decisions
- SEND and EAL adaptations with meaningful coach, scorer and official roles
- Explicit ball-storage, court-spacing and net-area safety
- Plan–Monitor–Reflect questions and team-based oracy prompts
This provides a clear pathway from adapted rally-building activities to organised, tactical and independently managed volleyball performance.
