Help Years 3–4 pupils become controlled, observant and tactically aware net-wall players through eight lessons of approximately 55–60 minutes.

The scheme starts with mini-court sending and recovery before exploring how depth and width can outwit an opponent. Pupils develop paddle control through pickleball-style activities, then learn forehand accuracy, recovery, backhand technique and appropriate shot selection. Serving, rules and tactical play are followed by target games involving accuracy and managed risk, with the unit concluding in an inclusive tactical festival.

The resource contains opening guidance for curriculum coverage, assessment and inclusion. Every lesson includes a detailed written plan and matching visual infographic, alongside Know and Show outcomes, vocabulary, equipment, timings, organisation, AfL questions, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support, safety information and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts.

The scheme succeeds because it moves naturally from cooperative control to competitive decision-making. Modified courts, equipment and rules make rallies achievable while preserving genuine tactical challenge. Pupils learn not only how to strike, but where to send, how to recover and when to take a calculated risk.
