Give Years 3–4 pupils a complete understanding of striking and fielding through eight progressive lessons, each planned for approximately 55–60 minutes.

The scheme introduces fielding roles and effective ground fielding before developing underarm and overarm throwing. Pupils learn batting technique and placement, bowling and backstop skills, catching, relays and backing up. They then explore fielding tactics, batting choices, base running, scoring and risk before applying everything in a final Racing Rounders assessment lesson.

Introductory pages provide curriculum, assessment and inclusion guidance. Every lesson includes a comprehensive written plan and a matching visual infographic, supported by clear outcomes, vocabulary, equipment, timings, organisation, technical cues, AfL questions, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support, safety guidance and Plan–Monitor–Reflect opportunities.

What makes the scheme so effective is that every pupil learns the whole game rather than experiencing batting in isolation. Carefully organised roles keep children involved, while progressive practices build confidence before competitive application. The result is safer play, better teamwork and more intelligent decisions about placement, movement, scoring and risk.
