TME Development Football Years 3–4 | Ages 7–9 | Lower KS2
Build confident, thoughtful footballers with six progressive lessons for Years 3–4, each planned for approximately 55–60 minutes.
The unit begins with accurate passing and receiving before helping pupils pass and move to create space. Later lessons develop scoring opportunities, possession, defending an attack and the application of attacking and defensive principles in small-sided games. Technique is always connected to decision-making, communication and teamwork.
The resource includes opening guidance on curriculum coverage, assessment and inclusive practice. Every lesson is provided as a detailed written plan and an easy-to-follow visual infographic. Teachers receive clear Know and Show outcomes, vocabulary, equipment lists, timings, organisation, coaching cues, AfL questions, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL strategies, safety points and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts.
Its real strength is the transfer from practice into play. Activities are purposeful rather than drill-heavy, helping pupils understand when and why to use a skill. Small-sided formats maximise involvement, while adaptable challenges ensure that developing and confident players can progress together in a safe, supportive environment.
