TME Development Athletics Years 3–4 | Ages 7–9 | Lower KS2
Transform your Years 3–4 athletics teaching with eight progressive, fully planned lessons designed for approximately 55–60 minutes of active learning.
Pupils develop sprinting shape and acceleration, relay exchanges and teamwork, throwing for accuracy, throwing for distance with a foam javelin, standing long jump technique, hop-step-jump rhythm and effective pacing. The scheme concludes with an inclusive athletics festival that supports performance, assessment and celebration.
The resource begins with curriculum, assessment and inclusion guidance. Every lesson then includes a detailed written plan and a matching visual infographic, helping teachers understand the organisation and teaching points at a glance. Clear Know and Show outcomes, key vocabulary, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, AfL questions, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support, equipment, timings, safety guidance and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts are built throughout.
What makes this scheme particularly effective is its careful progression. Pupils move from focused technique to meaningful individual and team challenges, while personal improvement remains more important than simply being the fastest or strongest. It is practical, inclusive and ready to teach for specialists and non-specialists alike.
