TME Development Gymnastics Years 3–4 | Ages 7–9 | Lower KS2
Deliver safe, purposeful gymnastics with this eight-lesson Years 3–4 scheme, designed around approximately 55–60 minutes of progressive learning per lesson.
Pupils explore body shapes, tension and safe landings; travelling, pathways and turns; individual and partner balances; rolling and weight transfer; symmetry and asymmetry; and the use of unison, canon and relationships. They then combine their learning into low-apparatus sequences before performing and assessing their finished work.
The scheme begins with curriculum, assessment and inclusion guidance. Every lesson has a detailed written plan and matching visual infographic, supported by outcomes, vocabulary, timings, equipment, organisation, teaching cues, AfL questions, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL strategies, safety guidance and Plan–Monitor–Reflect tasks.
This scheme is particularly strong because safety and quality are embedded in the progression. Pupils establish control and landing technique before moving onto more complex balances, relationships and apparatus work. It develops physical competence alongside creativity, trust, communication and evaluation, giving both specialist and non-specialist teachers a clear route through a technically demanding subject.
