Lesson_80_Moses_Flees.
Moses is now 40 years old. He knows he is a Hebrew, and he goes out to observe the hard labor of his people.
When he sees an Egyptian taskmaster brutally beating a Hebrew slave, Moses's sense of justice boils over into
uncontrolled rage. He looks both ways, murders the Egyptian, and buries the body in the sand. Moses thought
he was acting as a deliverer, but the next day, his own people reject him, asking, 'Who made you ruler and
judge over us?' Terrified that Pharaoh has discovered his crime, Moses flees the most powerful empire on
earth and runs into the desolate Midianite desert. He has lost his royal title, his wealth, and his home. Today,
we will explore the terrifying consequences of impulsive anger, the impossibility of hiding our sins, and the
stark difference between biblical justice and reckless vigilantism.
