Usually found in the Americas from Argentina to the State of Texas, the Phoebis sennae butterfly, or Cloudless Sulphur, is also periodically seen throughout central California and clear on up into Ontario, Canada, and is almost exactly the same brilliant green of the yarn I used for this design.
Crescent is worked with Aran weight yarn in long, sweeping rows from the cast on edge, through the lace portion, and straight on to the short-rows that shape it into a crescent before binding off.
If you prefer to knit shawls with lighter weight yarn, but like this design, then you'll probably like Moon Moth. It uses the same stitches, and was designed with fingering weight yarn.
