Flame of Kildare (organ version)
A celebratory concert piece or recessional voluntary inspired by St Brigid of Ireland.
Organ solo
Duration c. 4 mins
Commissioned by the Guild of St Bride, London.
Flame of Kildare was composed as a celebration of the life and work of St Brigid of Ireland. Brigid founded an abbey in Kildare, so the composer chose to base the piece on the Irish jig tune "Rakes of Kildare".
The original version is for organ and 2 trumpets. This version for organ solo is most easily played on a 3-manual organ.
