Rudolf Dittrich (1861–1919), Austrian composer and cultural bridge-builder, is best remembered for his role in introducing Western music to Japan during the late 19th century. His sacred work A Lenten Supplication, captures the reflective spirit of the Lenten season with lyrical lines and a meditative atmosphere.
This wind quintet arrangement preserves Dittrich’s solemn beauty while offering fresh colors through flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon. Ideal for church services, sacred concerts, or contemplative recital programming, the piece invites performers and listeners alike into a space of serenity and devotion.
