Rudolf Dittrich (1861–1919), Austrian composer and cultural bridge-builder, is best remembered for his role in introducing Western music to Japan during the late 19th century. His sacred work A Lenten Supplication, captures the reflective spirit of the Lenten season with lyrical lines and a meditative atmosphere.
