“There is no compulsion in the religion. Guidance has been made clear from misguidance. Whoever disbelieves in taaghoot and believes in Allah has grabbed onto the strongest handhold which will never break. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” [2:256]

Allah has described His deen (religion) and His rushd (guidance) as two basic matters: disbelief in taaghoot, along with belief in Him. So He has required a form of kufr from His worshippers, that they must disbelieve in taaghoot. So what is this taaghoot which every Muslim must denounce, disavow, reject, and disbelieve in, in order for his Islam to be valid? Is it just another word for idols and false objects of worship? Or is the topic more detailed, requiring awareness of different manifestations and categories of taaghoot? That is the topic of this text, The Meaning of Taaghoot, by Shaykh al-Islam Muhammad ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhaab [d.1206] (may Allah have Mercy on him).

This PDF includes the text of the book, paired with an English translation, laid out over many pages, with ample space for notetaking during class. After the text there are helpful resources, including the uninterrupted text, in its original Arabic (both voweled and unvoweled), as well as its uninterrupted English translation. A chain of transmission is also included, as well as an older printing of the text.

The Meaning of Taaghoot

I haven't had the opportunity to listen and follow along with the classes from Shaykh Moosaa on this particular topic but for what I know of him and his efforts when putting together such works to aid Allah's slaves I'll find it easy to follow along and he makes himself available for questions and this is a added bonus.
