LORE:

Chester is an Orphan taken in by a Chronology mage with... questionable morals who used chronology magic in search of immortality and succeeded. In exchange for Shelter and food Chester Burned away his time... memories... family... each time having to start over in exchange for the thing he lacked mana. When you first meet him it's the first rewind where he's retained his memories. Each time Chesters memories are burned away, and he becomes small he gains a portion of power. While now Chester is a very good chronology mage there was a time when he had negligible to no mana... And as a result, was undervalued. Unable to find shelter after his village is burned to the ground he makes a deal with his teacher. In exchange for a home... he will burn it all away. Each time his mind is wipe it's to the exact day after the deal was struck. He has a large sigil burned into his back as proof of this magical experimentation.

Chester has a lot of thinks he knows but doesn't remember HOW he knows. He lives in an almost perpetual state of "i could have sworn ive done this before...?" he has friends who remember him, but he has no recollection of them...

Chester no longer ages normally due to how much time he's lost. Now it just burns the memories away...

his story consists of his travel mates finding out ... seeking out the mage (who is using the technique practiced on Chester to create near infinite power by taking away other people's time and taking the mana reserves) and defeating him

from there there's the happy and sad ending

of Chester choosing to burn his memories to save his family. (doing this WILLINGLY and then having it be implied this has happened before). this is should the party fall against the BBEG

Or him growing to be one of the best time mages on the planet learning to choose which memories to burn to continue to live.

Chester now has a signature afk. Doesn't really film well due to particles wanting to fight vrc carmera but it's basically him floating sleep-in sigils surrounded by the time magic
