Level 1 Handbook
This is the handbook for the Reading Made Simple Level 1 Phonic Reading and Writing Programme, containing all 46 reading and 42 spelling lessons (as four lessons are for reading only), in print form for PDF download.
Reading Made Simple teaches spelling and reading using the same simple lesson structure through synthetic, multisensory, structured phonics.
As reading is generally easier than spelling, pupils progress faster with reading than with spelling. At Level 1 we make provision for this, while ensuring that neither reading or spelling are held back by the dominance of either.
The easy-to-use format of Reading Made Simple makes it suitable for use by parents who wish to help their child at home, and for home education.
It can be used as a remedial programme for those with dyslexia/dyslexia-type difficulties.
It provides a solid base in reading and spelling on which the further levels build.
