Red-clawed Crab — Printable Hand-Painted Artwork
In both Korea and Japan we have red-clawed crabs crawling around near the sea and rivers in the summertime. Sometimes you can even find them in coastal forests looking for food to eat. Their backs have indentations which, when viewed from the top, look like smiley faces! This particularly photogenic crab posed for me one night as Hubby and I were taking a sunset stroll along the seawall of Oshiba Island in southern Hiroshima. I just had to capture the colors of the sunset in the crab’s claws and carapace. Using watercolor paints and felt-tipped pens, I made a combination of loose washes and areas of tight detail for high contrast. Just the right gift for that closet marine biologist or sea lover in your life. Prints 4x6 standard postcard size, just right for a bookshelf, clip frame, desk or even as a cool desktop wallpaper for your computer!
