A postcard of Hokkaido’s iconic Otaru Canal painted lovingly in Japanese Gansai Tambi paints. The Otaru Canal is lovely any time of the year, but looks particularly fresh in early summer when the ivy on the walls of these warehouses sports a vivid yellow-green. Otaru was the first place I got to play tourist in Japan, and it helped me get out of culture shock and fall in love with the country. Otaru also holds a very special place in my heart since I traveled here with close friends and family. I chose Gansai Tambi paints for their creaminess and depth, and the slightly-muted color range allows for a kind of romantic feel, which is what I was going for here. Carefully packaged for international shipping: the painting is placed in a plastic sleeve and rigid top-loader, sealed in a waterproof Ziploc bag, and protected with a waterproof bubble mailer. It is then shipped in an EMS box for additional protection.
