Gnome Dishcloth (or Spa Cloth)

This sweet little gnome will help you with all your cleaning projects.  He’s just a garter stitch hat, a seed stitch beard, and a stockinette nose – with a wee bit of mischief and a lot of heart.  Last page of pattern includes tips and hints for chart reading and more.

Skills Needed:  Knitting, purling.

Size:  About 10 in. [25 cm] square.

Yarn:  Appalachian Baby Design U.S. Organic Cotton (Sport; 100% Cotton; 194 yds/85 g).  If substituting yarn, try using the largest needle size recommended on the ball band.  You may have to experiment a bit to find the fabric you like best.

Needles:  US Size 6 [4 mm]:  24 in. [60 cm] circular needle or straight needles.

Gauge:    20.4 sts and 32.4 rows = 4" [10 cm].

Other Materials:  Stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle.
