There was no Waffen SS division composed solely of Albanian fighters during World War II. However, there were Albanian volunteers who fought on the side of Nazi Germany, and some of them were incorporated into the Waffen SS as part of the 21st Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Skanderbeg. The division was named after the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg and was composed of volunteers from Albania, Kosovo, and other areas of the Balkans. The division saw action on the Eastern Front, fighting against the Soviet Union. Despite its relatively small size, the division was notorious for its brutality towards civilians and prisoners of war. After the war, many former members of the division were tried and convicted for their crimes.
