Here Comes the Sun: A Cross-Curricular Summer Workbook

The Sun has been powering life on Earth for 4.6 billion years. This booklet takes curious minds on a journey through the science, geography, history, art and music of our nearest star; no worksheets that feel like homework, just genuinely interesting things to discover and think about.

Across twelve sections, learners will explore how the Sun produces energy through nuclear fusion, investigate the midnight sun and polar night in the Arctic Circle (with YouTube links to real footage of people living through both), find out what UVA and UVB actually do to skin, track their own sleep and mood in response to morning sunlight, read Sun myths from Egypt, Greece, Japan and Wales, write their own, study the way van Gogh, Monet, Turner and Kandinsky each tried to capture light on canvas, and investigate songs inspired by sunshine across six decades of popular music.

Every section includes accessible prose, Did You Know facts, research tasks, YouTube recommendations and lined activity spaces. There are no right or wrong answers to most of the questions; the booklet is designed to spark curiosity and sustain it.

This booklet has no age label. It is written for curious minds, and curious minds come in all shapes, sizes and ages. If the topics sound interesting to your young person, it will work for them.
