Turn the learning they love into real AQA certificates

Unlimited AQA Unit Awards for your home educated young person. Choose any unit from more than 20,000, use the Hub workbooks or ask for a new one, and earn real AQA certificates, with every piece of work checked by a qualified teacher. Just £35 to join, then £12 a month, with no limit on how many units they do.

Why AQA Unit Awards are worth it

Whatever your young person is into, from dogs and dragons to cooking, photography or psychology, there is almost certainly an AQA Unit Award for it. Here is why so many home educating families use them.

Learning made visible. So much of what a home educated young person learns happens quietly, through projects, conversations and hands on experience. Each unit gathers that learning together into finished work you can see, share and look back on.

Recognition they have earned. For a young person who has had a hard time in school, a certificate with their own name on it is a real moment of recognition, and it can change how they see themselves as a learner.

A learning portfolio that keeps growing. Each unit adds to a record of achievement your young person can keep and build on, year after year, and it can sit alongside the other examples of learning you choose to share at EHE reviews.

A way to show what they can do. Certificates and finished workbooks give your young person something concrete to point to when they talk about their achievements, whether that is with family, on a CV or in an application for a course.

Learning that follows their passions. They choose units around what they love, so the learning feels like theirs rather than something done to them.

No exams and no pressure. Every unit is small and achievable, with no time limits and no tests, which suits neurodivergent learners and young people recovering from school-based anxiety.

Evidence in whatever form suits them. Writing, photos, drawings and short videos all count.

Real certificates, earned at home

These are real AQA Unit Award certificates, earned by young people working with NEST. Every unit your young person completes ends in one of these, sent through the post with their own name on it, so the learning they have done is recognised and they have something to keep and add to their portfolio.

How the Hub works

Pick any unit. Your young person can choose from more than 20,000 AQA units, from animal care and cooking to photography, first aid and history, so there really is something for every interest.

Download the workbook. If there is already a Hub workbook for the unit, download it and get started. If there isn't one yet, just ask, and a workbook will be made for your young person and added to the library for every member to use.

Watch a video lesson. Every workbook has a QR code that links to a short video lesson on the topic, so your young person can see it explained before they start.

Send the finished work. Scan the QR code on the last page to upload photos of the pages and any videos. There are no deadlines, so they can take as long as they need.

Feedback and a real certificate. I check the work against the AQA unit, send you warm, specific feedback, and claim the official certificate. Your young person gets a real AQA certificate through the post to keep, and you also receive a digital copy by email.

Unlimited units, all year. There is no cap and no extra charge for each certificate, so the more your young person enjoys it, the better value it becomes.

This booklet has no age label. It is written for curious minds, and curious minds come in all shapes, sizes and ages. If the topics sound interesting to your young person, it will work for them.

Try it first. Download a free Hub workbook from the shop and see what your young person thinks.

Join the Hub

Joining is £35 for the academic year, with your first month included, and then it's £12 a month, which is less than £3 a week. Siblings also pay £35 to join, which registers them with AQA and includes their first month, and then just £6 a month.

No limits. Unlike some Unit Award organisations, there is no limit to the number of units your young person does or the units they choose. They can work on as many as they like, with no extra charge for each certificate.

Membership runs from September to August, and you can cancel the monthly payment at any time. By joining you agree to our Terms and Conditions.

Hello, I'm Michelle

I founded NEST Pembrokeshire to support neurodivergent young people and home educating families who need learning to work differently. I'm a qualified teacher, a former ALNCo and lead of two independent SEN schools, and a Level 7 Educational Assessor.

I check every piece of work myself and give warm, specific feedback, so your young person feels proud of what they have done. If you have any questions before joining, email me at nest.pembrokeshirehub@gmail.com.
