In "Facts About your Rights as a Taxpayer" students will be able to know their rights and what they are entitled to as a taxpaying citizen. This reading will have questions on its own to check student knowledge.

In "Your taxes at work" students will see how their taxes improve the city, pay for a wide variety of programs and services to support the American public.

In "Pay-as-you-earn" students will know the Medicare and Social Security tax rate and how they pay into the system as they work for a living. They will also understand what W-2's are and what a Form W-4 is.

With the Financial records activity students will learn the two basic systems of record keeping and write about which one is more preferable to them and how those systems benefit them.

Students will take a closer look at federal, State, and local government taxes and what they fund.

In "The Creation of Taxes" students will learn, review, and tell in their own words how proposed tax bills become law and what they can do as taxpaying citizens to make their voice be heard.

This resource provides reading, reading comprehension in the form of multiple choice questions or open ended responses, writing practice, and vocabulary review.
