Large Houses

Everywhere I've traveled, there has always been a version of The Large House. It's the one on the country lane, where hedgerows border the path. It's the one in Venice, layers of rich color giving a mottled, textural look. In Burano, there are so many of these houses: small doors and windows on a glorious expanse of color. It was time for us to have this in a quilt.

The pattern for these Large Houses contains directions for three sizes:

• mini-quilt (24")
• small wall quilt (36")
• large wall quilt (45")

There are different ways to make them, too, from reverse appliqué (if you wish), to sewing the house together in pieces. Instructions for quilting are included.
