"This Grade 9 workbook is the follow-up to "Funksionele Taalgebruik (Woord- en Sinstrukture) vir Afrikaans EAT Graad 8" [Functional Language Use (Word and Sentence Structures) for Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) Grade 8], and is similar to the books that follow for Grades 10 and 11/12. The series was created with the goal of filling the gap left by most other language books, which contain too few exercises to properly practice language structures.

Grade 9 learners are gradually introduced here to the integration of different language structures. Each chapter covers a different language structure followed by practice exercises. A "mini-test" or reinforcement exercise then follows every three chapters to integrate the preceding work. In this way, learners build the confidence to apply a variety of language structures, whether in oral work, writing, or language tasks. All language structures required by the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) are also implemented.
