I came up with this design back in 2008. I still love how the bells work with that exquisite border stitch. In fact, I like it so much that three years later I used these two stitches, along with a third stitch, when I designed Lalique, a sweet little all-over lace cardigan sweater.
Knitting starts with a provisional cast on at the center line. Stitches are left live while the second side is knit. Stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on, and a border is knit. This is repeated on the second side, and then the two sides are grafted together.
